I know you know it, but I am an awesome mum.
It’s fair to say that on a day-to-day basis I forget it, but every now and again I get to do something so far above the bar that I know it, I am awesome.
Like take the three little people to Chessington, to see an exclusive screening of Penguins of Madagascar. Maybe ‘money can’t buy’ is overused, but this experience and everything it brought really has been.
Not only did we get to enjoy a family experience watching the film but the children had to try to contain their excitement as the met their favourite penguins.
And maybe, just maybe, the fab goody bag that came home with me contained a DVD, which maybe means we’ve managed to (slightly less exclusively) recreate the experience since.
DreamWorks Animation’s PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on 30th March. The perfect accompaniment to the Easter break, especially when everyone is needing a little respite. Featuring what I now know to be FOUR super-spies, it seems our favourites from Madagascar are back- Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private—join forces with the elite North Wind team to save the world.
For me, I’m a little bit happy to be hearing John Malkovich and Benedict Cumberbatch- this is definitely family entertainment at it’s best.
And what can I tell you about the film, at 4, B & E love this film, they love the excitement, they think it’s funny (although sometimes I think they end up finding each other funny) and they are happily engrossed, CM at 6 is hitting a little bit more of a sensitive age where ‘baddies’ just aren’t welcomed in her life unless she’s got mummy or daddy on hand- so fortunately it really is a family affair as we enjoy cwtching up together on the sofa.
There are films which are just better to have in your life, and Penguins of Madagascar is that. It is the film which isn’t on in the background, you put it on in the background and without knowing you find yourself trying to figure out why five of you are trying to fit on the three-seater sofa. Such is the need to be comfy.
With the Easter break on the horizon I’m thinking we have a perfect accompaniment to our 4 hour drive as B & E have a separate DVD player in the car, and will be more content with this.
And I’m looking forward to experimenting with the special features- and seeing whether B & E do have what it takes to become an Elite Agent!
Having laughter in your life really does make the world a better place.
Having laughter, laughing at your family’s laughter, and laughing more is just a perfect place to be.
Disclosure: We received a DVD of ‘Penguins of Madagascar’ and an invitation to a screening of the film for the purposes of this review. All opinions and views contained are our own.
