This is something to hold onto. The absolute magic that only Santa Claus can create. Those two little boys are mine. They couldn’t get close enough to the magic. Meeting Father Christmas at Hamleys is something which stays with them. I know this because they couldn’t have reminded Santa quickly enough that they had seen him here last year. And it’s true, because Father Christmas remembered them.Meeting Father Christmas at Hamleys may be on the expensive side of the visits available. But Hamleys do more than a queue and a quick chat with Santa. Hamleys create the experience.
You start at the front to the store, meeting the Elves, catching bubbles, as the excitement builds. A conga through the store to reach the doors to Santa’s Grotto, some Elf dust, and wow! The magic of a room which completely embraces Christmas adds to the excitement. With decorations, trees, gifts, a fireplace and an armchair – there’s no doubting you are about to be in the presence of the big man.
The children are given the opportunity to settle a little, with the perfect activity of decorating Christmas themed biscuits. This was perfect, especially for my three as it brought their energy levels high whilst keeping their excitement harnessed.
The Elves kept everyone involved, and before we knew it we were singing Father Christmas’s favourite song in hope that he would arrive.
And sure enough, Father Christmas was there, to read stories, to play party games. To create moments like this, captured because Father Christmas made sure he got to know all the children in the room. And then there was time for creating wish lists, With helpful Elves on hand to spell words like ‘Chewbacca’,And a little time for a special chat with Father Christmas, the moment important part of the visit. A time to let Father Christmas know what would make all of your wishes come true.
A time of amazement and wonder. And a little seriousness as you hope Father Christmas can see your good behaviour. When Father Christmas leaves to spend time with all the boys and girls who need his time, the good mood continues.
With a goody bag and balloon from Hamleys, the price of the ticket seems worth the contents. I have to admit the children have each given me something from their bags (because mummy doesn’t get presents from Father Christmas). I have a teddy bear to cuddle, a chocolate bar to consume (I may have already done this) and a Mr Men book to read at bedtime. The children kept their Christmas tree ornaments as I am informed these are family gifts.
But the children are left with so much more.
Hamleys don’t do professional photos as part of the experience, but it really is the photos you take, as your children have so much fun which best capture the magic of Christmas.
The experience is available at Hamleys Cardiff until December 24th for £19.99. The experience is suitable for 2-8 year olds and can be booked for aged 2-5 and 6-8 year olds. The experiences are not restricted by age group, but activities may be adapted to suit the session.
