Disney has been in the boys’ life since they were born, around the time they were in bouncers CM discovered the ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’, so they missed out on the ‘Iggle Piggle’ love CM had experienced and graduated straight to Disney.
Jake and the Neverland Pirates has been in our lives what feels like forever, and receiving Jake’s Mighty Colossus High Seas Adventure Ship is a parallel to their lives, their third toy ship from the series, this ships have got bigger in the same way the boys have.
The Mighty Colossus dwarfs their Bucky ships, at over two feet tall, it offers multi-level play which is perfect for twins.
With lots of adventures in store, from the crow’s nest, to the deck and steering the ship, climbing down the ropes and trap doors, a secret treasure room, walking the plank, and a prison- the ship itself has lots of nooks and crannies. Add to the ship moveable pieces, like a telescope and double-cannon, there was lots for the boys to get involved with and create their own fun.
The playset comes with a Captain Jake figurine as well as Lord Fathom, the boys were quick to find their villain of the piece and Captain Hook joined their story.
Designed for aged 3, the ship definitely fits the bill, the pieces are just the right size for little hands, and it’s design is made to withstand the twists and turns as pieces are manipulated. And whilst the boys are now feeling a little old for Jake, it really is their comfort toy, it’s more of a fun toy than some of their others, and with the benefit of being big enough for most of their toys the ship brings the best of their imagination to the fore.
The perfect toy for any Jake fan, the boys had great fun showing me around it:
