As the sunshine makes a much-needed appearance in our lives, our favourite Hero Next Door, Fireman Sam, is here to make sure we know how to keep safe this summer.
Fireman Sam has launched a nationwide campaign, in partnership with Child Safety Week (6th-12th June); an annual initiative run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) to raise awareness of child-related accidents and how they can be prevented.
The campaign is aimed at teaching children and parents about summer safety including how to be safe around water while swimming and when stood near open flames at a barbeque. Fireman Sam has created a list of top ten summer safety tips to educate parents and youngsters how to stay safe and have fun to reduce the risk of accidents.Bringing these important tips to life and to support Child Safety Week messages, Fireman Sam and his team also feature in fun animated videos that will ensure all members of the family are aware of the potential hazards that can cause accidents during the summer.
Katrina Phillips, Chief Executive of the Child Accident Prevention Trust, comments: “It is really important that parents and children are vigilant and take extra precaution this summer to avoid unnecessary accidents. The Fireman Sam Summer Safety videos are a fantastic way to support Child Safety Week and what we stand for, as well as reinforcing key safety messages without finger wagging at parents”.
