A SwimFin Summer Holiday in Anglesey

Swimfin family

Teaching children to swim, like reading is something I’ll never understand. It’s the magical art of phonetics and number lines mixed with coordinating arm and leg movements. Impossible or magic, I’m not sure. And like my memories of learning to read, life has moved on. Orange armbands are one of many swimming aids to support children in their bid to conquer water. And ever since my children were learning to swim they’ve loved the idea of swimming with a SwimFin.Blue SwimfinYes. SwimFins look completely awesome – who wouldn’t want to learn to swim whilst embodying a shark? But there seemed to be a holy grail. Some classes insist on kick floats, others noodles, and some armbands. What I’ve realised about my children is that anything is fine, as long as it’s on their terms.

Once the boys gained their swimming skills they couldn’t be bothered with lessons anymore. Like their sister they’ll prove their ability when it’s insisted but nothing more.

So SwimFins have proven invaluable in proving their worth in the pool. The great thing about the SwimFin is whilst it’s a swimming aid, it also looks great. It boosts confidence no end in the pool, and available in a wide range of colours.

Great for our family as it’ll never be a case of the wrong colour compromising all chances of being able to swim. You’d have to meet my children to know how much colour plays a part in me ever getting anything right. Whilst swimming pools no longer offer a challenge, there is the unknown of the ocean. The children are aware of the currents and the strength of the sea but their need to conquer body-boarding is strong.

In order to increase their independence with their boards SwimFins were a constant at the start of every session as their sea legs developed.Splash Swimfin Yellow Swim fin CMProgression from swimming to body-boarding has been swift. Watching their confidence grows with the knowledge a SwimFin will support them in the face of a strong wave.
