Living Arrows

Living Arrows 2015 4/52

I finally succumbed on Friday.

B&E had been fortunate to have been gifted money for their birthday, and as our home was already up to the rafters in toys from Christmas as well as their birthday I was in no hurry to see it spent.

Two weeks on I was running out of excuses so I agreed to a trip to Smyths.

Two things were realised.

The ongoing generosity of my children. The boys agreed CM should have an amount of their money as she didn’t have any.

That I have never taken my children to a toy store. It’s definitely the place to kill a couple of hours on a Friday evening. Our basket was filled with ‘must-have’s’, emptied, refilled, emptied- as preferences changes as the store was explored.

I have to be honest, once I realised this wasn’t going to be an “I want X, go in, buy X, go home” experience I enjoyed the wonder as my children absorbed wall to wall, floor to ceiling toys.

It’s not a trip to be repeated anytime soon, but it was a step towards them appreciating the value of money.

I can’t believe you have never taken the to a large toy store before, my two love visiting Toys R Us… although hubby isn’t keen as it always ends up costing him money!

I have no idea. I’ve run in and out with CM a couple of times for specific things, but we’ve always just stuck to the Lego store and Disney shop in the city centre. And yes, we definitely won’t be returning anytime soon given the list of toys they’ve run up in the minds ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s so lovely that the boy’s shared with their sister. I don’t think my three realise yet that they can actually buy things from the shop and take them home so they are quite happy just to look at the toys ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh wow, that is a nice place to be. I bet there’s lots of fun to be had until they reach that point!

So sweet of the boys to share. After ‘nipping in’ to Toys’r’us to get a present when my girl was 2 – never again!
