Living Arrows

Living Arrows 2015 2/52

The boys have reached, and welcomed excitedly, their 4th birthday.

Birthdays with twins is an interesting one- shared presents, identical presents, one card, two card.

And so soon after Christmas.

Given the boys are still too young to express an opinion, watching them open gifts offers great perspective.

If they get two things in different colours, they will decide who is having which based on whether one of them is a favourite colour- if it’s red it’s E’s and that’s non-negotiable.

If they get different gifts, it becomes irrelevant, they all end up in the same toy cupboard.

If they have two the same, and one of them is in a bad mood- regardless, theirs is the one the other is playing with.

Watching each of the little people enjoy their birthday makes my heart burst.

Having twins means we have a relationship characterised by sharing, but not just with each other, their sibling is welcomed into this occasion, present opening is shared. My memory is long enough to remember CM sharing her gift opening with her brothers too.

Birthdays are special and these boys make theirs special for everyone who crosses their path.

Happy birthday to them both. Bet they love the fact they don’t have to share a cake! N’s birthday is next week, so must get organised for that. #livingarrows

It’s so exciting to read the perspectives of mums to older twins! I hadn’t considered what birthdays will be like; I feel as though reading this post is giving me a sneak peek into my future.

It is such an odd one. I can rarely imagine mine being six months old, let alone years old. It is so heartheld to enjoy every moment whilst you can (because they do outweigh any more difficult times) and enjoy the days and leave the years to pass. I have no idea how mine turned 4, but know every moment makes the happiness of them growing before my eyes more than worthwhile. I suspect I will more than enjoy spectating as yours grow and will definitely be taking the time to reminisce. x

Awww happy birthday gorgeous boys, these photos are lovely. I love how much thought goes into what they do, but like you said, gaging their reactions and also I’m sure they will soon tell you when they’re old enough to decide what they would like. So wonderful that they will always know how to share πŸ™‚ #livingarrows
