Since we created a space themed bedroom for B and E, CM has been desperate to make a start on hers. The problem is one of expectation. Whilst the boys had no idea what to expect. CM has a very clear image in mind as we plan her rainbow themed bedroom.
Even deciding a theme wasn’t straightforward. CM wanted a fox themed bedroom, and not even a fun one, real life foxes. It was too much of a challenge for me. So, a little sweet talking and persuasion later, we’ve found compromise in a rainbow themed bedroom.
Now CM’s 8 I’m really conscious of not wanting to create a room which she grows out of too fast. I’m hoping a rainbow theme lends itself to which ever way CM wants to take it, and that a change of accessories can reshape the room should her mood take.
Because the offer from Inspired Wallpaper to help decorate the room after seeing our Pinterest board really did pull things together. I love Pinterest as a place to collect ideas, and like the office, Inspired Wallpaper has so much choice that we found a piece which CM fell for.
Which meant we could start agreeing on more inspiration to surround the striped wallpaper.
Star Shelf / ‘Be A Rainbow’ print / Kawaii Friends Fox suitcase /
Stuva bed / Martez Zing Striped Wallpaper / Rainbow bedset /
Polka Dot decal / Rainbow suitcase / Sleepy cloud garland /
I love the idea of accessorising with bits and pieces which suit CM and her personality. We’ve still managed to find some fox accessories to sit amongst the rainbows. We’ve decided to use spot decals to complement the stripe wallpaper, just so it’s not too much.
Of course, for CM the bed is the piece d’resistance. And for my purse. It’s my own fault as I was browsing with her next to me and it is perfect for her. The storage means we can do away with her current desk and Kallax unit. Which is a good thing as we have plans for the space.
Because there’s so much to make for CM’s rainbow themed bedroom.
I’ve seen a great tutorial for a rainbow rug made from pompoms which looks so comfy underfoot. Years ago I had intended to make a pompom mobile for my office, I didn’t, but now I love the idea of matching the rug with a mobile. And of course, CM loves the mache letters which we did for the boys bedroom and so I’m trying to decide whether to use paint or buttons for this room.
The space we’ve freed up in CM’s room is going to be her reading nook. I’ve picturing either a rocking chair, or cushions and bean bags in a corner of her room. We’ve found the perfect rainbow material to create a canopy. Now I just need to figure out how to pull it all together.
So it’s a good job I have some time off. Time off to decorate. Some time away with evenings for pompom making. Time off to be.
Disclosure: I am working with Inspired Wallpaper to create our Pinterest inspired room.
