Last year I started an Advent Book Calendar, it was a fantastic way to introduce some new books and revisit some which are on our bookshelf but not necessarily at the top of the favourites list. All of the books were based around Christmas and winter.
One of my favourite books in the pile, which I intentionally saved for a weekend, was Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Christmas Stories’, full of beautiful words and pictures, stories of days gone by, we all loved cwtching up to be taken away in our imagination
And so, when we heard that Michael Morpurgo’s ‘On Angel Wings’ was to be released on DVD and digital download, I was a little bit eager to introduce my children to it.
‘On Angel Wings’ is released today (2nd November), and is a magical re-working of the nativity story, based on Morpurgo’s book, the story begins on a present day Christmas night, as 8 year-old Rachel is allowed to join in the family ritual with Grandfather Amos. Developing a special bond, Grandfather tells Rachel how she reminds him of a magical night, and proceeds to recount how he was flown by the Angel Gabriel to become the first visitor to the newly-born Christ child, the Virgin Mary and Joseph.
It was lovely to see the children enchanted, understanding the Christmas from a child’s perspective.
A wonderful way to prepare for the magic of Christmas, I have a copy of the DVD to giveaway:
