This week has not gone as planned, this week I realised that planning isn’t always a good thing.
(I can’t believe I typed that either).
But I planned a trip to London for a 6 year-old, but unfortunately I planned it with my feet in the shoes of my 6 year-old self. And in the process learned so much about my 6 year-old, and how much of an individual she is.
I also ended up needing a sick day, and felt just as sick for missing some important meetings as I did for being sick.
And then I picked up a voicemail. Which I didn’t ‘get’ but reference to a conversation which hadn’t happened meant I began to play out a wide range of conversations.
I went back to London on Thursday, and phoned my boss when I got there. The voicemail was understood.
I’ve been offered a new opportunity. Only for four months. It’s not a promotion.
But it’s a new team. A brand new role. Part of a new way of working.
No line management responsibility. I love the way it was sold to me.
When you start a week, a day, a phone call with a sense of certainty,
The direction one journey can take,
The difference one phone call can make,
The wealth of learning a week of your life can offer.
September brings a new chapter for all of us.
