Word of the Week – 03/09/16

It’s been so long since I’ve joined in Word of the Week. At the beginning of August I jumped on the Bullet Journal train, setting up something just for blogging as generally my online work diary keeps track of where everyone needs to be. I wanted to refocus my blog, take time for what I enjoy. As I reflected, I realised how much I tracked life through Word of the Week, snapshots which somehow, when joined together, created life.

And so, with getting back on track, here I am (it only took four weeks!).

So, this week is the start of everything coming back together. I have had the best fortnight off work. I cannot remember the last time I had two consecutive weeks. Probably maternity leave. But it was bliss. I had so much time.

But this week the inevitable happened. I had to go back to work. Bleurgh.

And it was rubbish. I got frustrated. I got wound up. And that was just Tuesday.

As is life, it’s turned out fine. It’s just getting back into the routine.

I caught up with a friend, over wine. It had been far too long.

By Friday, I felt like we were winning again.

The children have continued their adventures. After a fortnight with me and him, they’ve loved having time with Grandma and Grampy again.

They’ve been spoilt and are so geared up for back to school next week.Word of the Week - 03/09/16And so, my word of the week is routine. For the peace of mind of mine being established again.

Somehow whilst the freedom of six weeks is welcomed with open arms, it is a temporary need.

We make the most of it, we love the moments.

The routine though keeps everything on track.

And so, to the hope of next week, and of all being well come the Monday morning school run.

So, of course I’m back joining up with Jocelyn at The Reading Residence, pop over and see what others have captured as their word:

I have loved the Summer holidays but I am so looking forward to getting back into a routine again. We have been lucky enough to enjoy four weeks away with the children over Summer, I took them away with my Mum for two weeks, my Hubby for one and one week alone plus two weeks at home with them which has made the holidays enjoyable and pass by in the blink of an eye but I definitely feel that we are all ready to get back to some kind of normality. I know I will miss them come Monday morning but I dare say it will only be for the first half an hour or so, or perhaps around 3.40pm when chaos ensues once more 😉

I love a bit of routine, even if we often crave a break from it. My kids went back on the 1st, and I’m already enjoying the greater routine of having them back in school, sports clubs etc. Enjoy your improved routine and your bullet journal! #WotW

So lovely to have you back. Glad you’re finding a bullet journal helpful, too, I love mine! Routine definitely keeps things on an even keel, doesn’t it? Good to hear you’re back in the swing of things x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

I know routine matters and I know it helps but I have never mastered it. Well done to you.

We’ve had a great summer but even then we had a sort-of routine, it just helps the children know what’s coming next – and me! I think routine matters, even if it’s a loose routine, which we applied this summer.
Well done for getting back into the swing of a routine, it’ll be second nature soon!
